FAQ
What does "wylieyed" mean?
Wylieyed is a combination of my last name and the idea of always keeping one eye on your passions and interests.
Are all your recipes allergy friendly?
Yes, however please refer to each recipe for specific allergens.
Where do you find gluten free sauces typically found in Asian cuisine?
My go to stores are Wegmans and H-Mart, but check your local Asian supermarkets- typically they're hiding in plain sight.
What if I don't have a specialized ingredient?
Feel free to make substitutions! Cooking is all about figuring out what flavors and techniques work best for you.
I'm new to cooking with allergy friendly ingredients, where do I start?
Always start by consulting your doctor/dietitian before beginning a new diet. From there it's all about trial and error to determine your specific sensitivities and preferences. Not all ingredients are created equal, so if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
I'm in a cooking rut. Where do you come up with inspiration for recipes?
Sometimes recipes are inspired by a restaurant dish or showcasing a specific ingredient. Other times I like to pretend I'm on Chopped and I'm required to use certain ingredients. This gets you thinking about food in a way you may have not previously thought about and provides opportunity for experimentation.

Justin, official taste tester
Welcome to wylieyed, a blog focused on good eats and good times. My name is Allison Wylie, a city planner by day, based in the Triangle Region of North Carolina. This blog was born out of a love for cooking, creativity, and most importantly trying everything the world has to offer. This is a place for restaurant reviews and lifestyle content, but mainly recipes of the gluten free variety. While I don't have a gluten allergy myself, my husband does and because of this, I've turned our kitchen into a gluten free wonderland of endless culinary possibilities. If the store doesn't have it, well then we make it ourselves- adapt and overcome. Whoever said gluten free food was boring and flavorless has another thing coming!
Note- All recipes posted to this site are based on a general gluten sensitivity and are not celiac certified. Please substitute accordingly.
